Hello, my name is Walter.

I am a portrait and nature photographer born and raised in Sitka, Alaska. Surrounded by some of nature's best, I picked up photography as a way to share rural and hidden attractions. I began with nature and expanded into portraiture.

Sitka is a small community of 8,000 people on a 14 mile stretch of road. As you could imagine, I have cabin fever. I travel across the USA and around the world. I have 2 B.A. degrees from Northwest University in Kirkland, WA and a M.T.S. from Baylor University. During the summer months you can find me in Sitka, AK or traveling off the beaten path. You can bet I always have my camera on me.

Whether the context is wildlife or portraiture, I prefer the great outdoors. The natural light does not lie; neither does nature shy away from unrepeatable colors and textures. People of all ages and cultures have stories to tell. Just as in nature, when people are doing what they do best in their own environment, a photo captures a thousand emotions and holds them still.
